Gmail / Google Mail problems replying to emails from Exchange 2003 senders

There has been some problems found with Gmail / Google Mail when trying to reply to emails sent by Exchange 2003 users.

The problems seem to only affect people using the new version of Gmail and Internet Explorer 7 (IE7).

Problems experienced are:

  1. You reply but the email message gets returned blank to the Exchange 2003 sender, all they see is a thread of their last email
  2. You click “Reply”, “Reply-All” or “Forward” - and a “Loading” message/iframe appears - but does not go away - therefore you cannot click on any message buttons, or fill in any form fields

A solution that can fix both of these problems is:

  1. Log into Gmail/Google Mail
  2. In the top right-hand corner click on “Older Version”
  3. When replying to an email make sure you write ABOVE the thread of senders message. If you type below it can get cut off due to Google Mail’s “Conversation” method of storing emails.
